Dentures remain the least expensive way to replace many missing teeth, and for some patients they remain the right answer. The trade-off is that a denture rests on gum rather than bone, so it moves when you chew, and the bone underneath continues to shrink year after year, which is why a denture that fit well in year one needs relining by year three.
The most useful thing to understand before comparing quotes is that adding as few as two implants to anchor a lower denture transforms how it performs, and costs far less than replacing every tooth with implants.

Acrylic, cast metal or flexible
Acrylic partials are cheapest and bulkiest. A cast metal framework is thinner, transmits temperature, and is markedly more comfortable to wear for years. Flexible nylon dentures avoid visible metal clasps but are harder to adjust and reline.
The quality of the denture teeth
Denture teeth range from basic acrylic to multi-layered high-wear sets. On something worn daily for a decade, this difference is felt in both appearance and how quickly the bite wears flat.
How many appointments the fit takes
A well-made denture takes four to five appointments, including a try-in you approve before it is finished. A two-appointment denture is cheaper and fits like it.
