The single thing to understand about bridge pricing is that a bridge is priced per unit, and a unit is a crown. Replacing one missing tooth needs a three-unit bridge, because the two teeth either side have to be crowned to carry it. So a one-tooth gap is billed as three crowns, which is why the number surprises people who were expecting to pay for one tooth.
The ranges below are prevailing Lucknow market ranges for 2026 and are not a quotation from this clinic. Your own figure follows an examination and, usually, an X-ray of the supporting teeth.
Dental Bridge Cost breakdown
| Item | Typical range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Three-unit bridge, metal-ceramic | ₹12,000 – ₹27,000 | Replaces one missing tooth. The most common bridge there is. |
| Three-unit bridge, zirconia | ₹24,000 – ₹50,000 | Metal-free, no dark line at the gum as it recedes. |
| Four-unit bridge | ₹16,000 – ₹70,000 | Two missing teeth, or one missing tooth with an extra abutment for support. |
| Per additional unit | ₹4,000 – ₹18,000 | Each unit is priced as a crown, by material. |
| Cantilever bridge, two units | ₹8,000 – ₹35,000 | Supported from one side only. Limited indications, usually front teeth. |
| Maryland / resin-bonded bridge | ₹8,000 – ₹25,000 | Wings bonded to the back of the neighbouring teeth. Minimal tooth removal. |
| Implant-supported bridge, 3 units on 2 implants | ₹80,000 – ₹1,50,000 | Replaces three teeth without touching any natural tooth. |
| Root canal on an abutment tooth, if needed | ₹3,000 – ₹12,000 | Preparation sometimes exposes the pulp. Ask whether this is inside the quote. |

What moves the price
How many units, not how many missing teeth
This is the whole basis of the price. One missing tooth between two sound teeth is three units. Two missing teeth is four. A gap where only one side has a usable tooth may need an extra abutment for support, adding a unit without replacing an extra tooth.
The material
Metal-ceramic is the cheaper option and develops a visible dark line at the gum margin over the years as gums recede. Zirconia is metal-free, costs roughly double, and does not. Across three or four units that difference compounds quickly.
The condition of the supporting teeth
The teeth either side carry the entire bridge. If they have large fillings, existing decay or reduced bone support, they may need building up or root canal treatment first, and in some cases they are not strong enough to carry a bridge at all.
Where the gap is
A front bridge is judged on appearance and usually justifies a better material. A back bridge takes far higher bite force and is judged on strength. The right spend differs, and paying for premium aesthetics on a second molar is money nobody will see.
The laboratory
A bridge is a single connected casting that has to fit two or three prepared teeth simultaneously. That is materially harder than fitting one crown, and lab quality shows up as fit at the margins, which is where bridges fail.
Before you compare quotes
Three ways a cheap quote gets cheap
The quote is per unit, presented as a bridge price
A ₹4,000 headline is one unit. A three-unit bridge is three times that at minimum. Always confirm whether the figure covers the whole bridge.
Root canals on the supporting teeth quoted later
Preparing a tooth for a bridge occasionally exposes the pulp, and a heavily restored abutment often needs root canal treatment first. If that was not discussed upfront, it will appear as an extra.
No X-ray of the supporting teeth
The bridge rests entirely on those two teeth. Their bone support and any decay under existing fillings cannot be judged by looking. A bridge planned without an X-ray is planned on hope.
Dental Bridge Cost in Lucknow: common questions
How much does a dental bridge cost?
A standard three-unit bridge, replacing one missing tooth, costs ₹12,000 to ₹27,000 in metal-ceramic and ₹24,000 to ₹50,000 in zirconia at Lucknow market rates in 2026. A four-unit bridge runs ₹16,000 to ₹70,000. Bridges are priced per unit, and each unit is essentially a crown.
How much does a 3 unit bridge cost?
₹12,000 to ₹50,000 depending on material, with metal-ceramic at the lower end and zirconia at the upper. A three-unit bridge replaces a single missing tooth: one unit spans the gap and the two outer units are crowns cemented onto the teeth either side.
Why does a bridge for one tooth cost three crowns?
Because it is three crowns. The middle unit has nothing under it, so it has to be carried by the teeth on both sides, and those teeth are cut down and crowned to carry it. You are paying for the two supporting crowns as much as for the replacement tooth.
Is a bridge cheaper than an implant?
Upfront, yes. A three-unit bridge costs ₹12,000 to ₹50,000 against ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 for a single implant with a crown. Over fifteen years the gap narrows, because a bridge is typically replaced once and each replacement removes more tooth structure, while an implant that integrates well often needs only a new crown.
How long does a dental bridge last?
Ten to fifteen years commonly. What ends a bridge's life is usually decay at the margin of one of the supporting teeth rather than failure of the bridge itself, which is why cleaning underneath the middle unit with superfloss or an interdental brush matters more than most people are told.
