Extraction cost splits cleanly in two. A tooth that is visible in the mouth and can be lifted out with forceps is a simple extraction and is inexpensive. A tooth that has to be reached by lifting the gum and removing bone is a surgical extraction and costs several times more.
Wisdom teeth are where most of the cost variation sits, because the same phrase covers everything from a fully erupted upper wisdom tooth that comes out in two minutes to a horizontally impacted lower one lying against a nerve.
Tooth Extraction Cost breakdown
| Item | Typical range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Simple extraction | ₹500 – ₹2,000 | Erupted tooth, removed with forceps under local anaesthetic. |
| Surgical extraction, broken or root-only | ₹2,000 – ₹5,000 | Gum lifted and bone removed to reach the tooth. |
| Erupted wisdom tooth | ₹1,000 – ₹3,000 | Usually the upper ones. Often straightforward. |
| Impacted wisdom tooth, surgical | ₹3,000 – ₹8,000 | Lower impacted molars. The commonest wisdom tooth case. |
| Complex impaction near the nerve | ₹6,000 – ₹12,000 | Horizontal or deep impaction. Needs CBCT planning first. |
| Milk tooth extraction | ₹300 – ₹1,000 | Children. Usually simple. |
| OPG or CBCT before surgery | ₹400 – ₹3,500 | Mandatory before removing an impacted lower wisdom tooth. |

What moves the price
Erupted or impacted
The single biggest factor. An erupted tooth is gripped and removed. An impacted one requires a flap, bone removal, often sectioning the tooth into pieces, and sutures afterwards.
Root anatomy
Curved, divergent or fused roots turn a routine extraction into a surgical one. This is visible on an X-ray beforehand, which is why a quote given without one can change.
Proximity to the inferior alveolar nerve
Lower wisdom tooth roots can sit against the nerve canal. Where the X-ray suggests contact, a CBCT is taken and the surgical approach changes to protect sensation in the lip and chin. This adds cost and it is the right call.
Whether the tooth is infected at the time
An actively infected tooth may need antibiotics and a delay before removal, adding a visit. Anaesthetic also works less predictably in infected tissue.
What replaces the tooth
The extraction is rarely the end of the cost. If the tooth is not a wisdom tooth, the gap will need an implant or a bridge, and a socket preservation graft at the time of extraction, roughly ₹5,000 to ₹15,000, preserves bone and makes the later implant simpler.
Tooth Extraction Cost in Lucknow: common questions
How much does tooth extraction cost in Lucknow?
A simple tooth extraction in Lucknow costs ₹500 to ₹2,000 in 2026. A surgical extraction of a broken or root-only tooth runs ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. Impacted wisdom teeth requiring surgical removal cost ₹3,000 to ₹8,000, rising to ₹12,000 for complex impactions near the nerve that need CBCT planning.
How much does wisdom tooth removal cost in Lucknow?
An erupted wisdom tooth costs ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 to remove in Lucknow. A surgically impacted lower wisdom tooth costs ₹3,000 to ₹8,000, and a complex or horizontally impacted one lying close to the nerve costs ₹6,000 to ₹12,000, plus ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 for the CBCT scan needed to plan it safely.
Is tooth extraction painful?
The extraction itself should not hurt, because the area is fully anaesthetised. You will feel pressure and movement but not pain. Discomfort comes afterwards as the anaesthetic wears off, and is managed with routine painkillers for two to three days. Surgical extractions cause more swelling than simple ones.
How long does it take to heal after an extraction?
The gum surface closes over in one to two weeks. The socket bone fills in over roughly three months, which is why an implant placed in a healed site is usually planned around that timeline. Sutures after a surgical extraction come out at about a week.
Do I need to replace an extracted tooth?
Wisdom teeth, no. Any other tooth, usually yes. A gap lets the neighbouring teeth tip into it and the opposing tooth over-erupt, which is harder and costlier to correct later than replacing the tooth was. The bone at the site also resorbs over time, which is why socket preservation at the time of extraction is worth discussing.
